Scott L. Smithers - Principal

Prior to forming Lane Partners, Scott was Senior Vice President of asset management and development for Starwood Capital’s west coast operations. Projects included the ground up development of the St. Regis branded condominium units in Wailea, Maui. This is a $500M ground up development that will produce 200 units with an average of 1700 sf with full service five star hotel amenities. Local operating partner was the Kobayashi Group. Other projects include the ground up development of a 25 story condominium development in Seattle, Washington.

Prior to joining Starwood Capital, Scott was President of DivcoWest Properties in San Jose, California. Scott was responsible for all operations of the company including development, asset management, leasing, construction, property management, and dispositions. The company grew from 0 to 10M sf in four (4) years and was named Silicon Valley Developer of the year.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from San Diego State University. Scott is also a licensed California Real Estate Broker and holds a Class-B General Contractor’s license.

Andrew D. Haydel - Vice President/Principal

Andrew joined Lane Partners in 2007 and became a Principal in 2008. Andrew’s responsibilities at Lane Partners are focused on capital transactions and construction management. Andrew oversees all acquisition underwriting and due diligence for Lane Partners.

Prior to joining Lane Partners, Andrew was Vice President of Capital Transactions for a real estate subsidiary of U.S. Trust. During his 4 years with U.S. Trust, Andrew was responsible for overseeing more than $400M in transactions and financings.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and a Masters of Business Administration with emphasis in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Andrew is also a LEED Accredited Professional.

Mark J. Murray – Associate

Mark joined Lane Partners in 2008 and focuses on acquisitions, leasing, asset management and construction management

Prior to joining Lane Partners, Mark was an Associate with Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart, Oliver and Hedges, LLP. During his 2 years with Quinn, Mark practiced a wide variety of business litigation, including Real Estate Development litigation, intellectual property and contractual disputes.

Mark’s real estate experience began at Harvard Law School where he acted as a student advocate in the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. Mark represented numerous low-income families and individuals in eviction actions and other types of tenant-landlord disputes. Mark’s advocacy prevented numerous clients from being evicted from their homes.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Stanford University, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa, and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School. Mark is a member of the California State Bar and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
